Why extra vitamins for children?
Children are completely dependent on food for their vitamins, because the body cannot produce them itself (with the exception of vitamin D). If a child eats little fruit and vegetables, extra vitamin C can help to support the immune system. A diet with little or no animal products can lead to a vitamin B12 deficiency, while a lack of oily fish can cause an omega 3 deficiency. This fatty acid is very important for the healthy development of the brain, eyes and heart.
Babies need extra amounts of certain vitamins. From day 8 to 3 months, they need vitamin K + D3 if they are breastfed. From 0 years of age, it is recommended to give vitamin D3 daily until the age of 5. If you do not want your baby to consume artificial additives, choose natural & plant-based vitamins.
