Calcium

Calcium plays a role in bone formation in our body. It is one of the best-known minerals when it comes to bones. Calcium is also necessary for bone maintenance; for example, it helps keep teeth strong. A calcium deficiency can lead to osteoporosis. This is a particular risk for women going through the menopause. They would therefore be well advised to consume sufficient calcium every day. Calcium is found mainly in milk and dairy products.

Magnesium

The mineral magnesium ensures proper muscle function. If you have a deficiency of this mineral, you may experience muscle cramps. This is a common complaint among athletes and a reason to take a magnesium supplement.

At VitaminFit, you will find magnesium supplements in different dosages to meet different needs: magnesium citrate capsules with 200 mg of magnesium per dose and magnesium citrate capsules with 400 mg per dose. For example, an avid athlete can use the higher dosage and someone who does not exercise can use the lower dosage. Magnesium citrate is the most easily absorbed form of magnesium. If you experience any magnesium side effects due to taking a dosage that is too high for your body's needs, you can reduce the dosage.

For example, sufficient vitamin D in our bodies can reduce the risk of bone fractures in the event of an accident.

Do you have specific supplements for strong bones?

Yes, our calcium capsules support the development and maintenance of strong bones and teeth. You can also take vitamin D. This vitamin ensures that calcium is properly absorbed.

Do men need a higher dose of supplements for muscles and joints than women?

Not always, although men have on average 30% more muscle than women. For vitamins C and D, the RDA for an adult man (19-50 years old) is the same as for an adult woman. Only young men (19-25 years old) need slightly more calcium than young women: 1000 mg versus 950 mg. Adult men (aged 19-50) also need slightly more magnesium: 350 mg versus 300 mg for women (aged 19-50).
