What is rosehip extract?

If you are interested in natural foods, you are probably already familiar with rosehip. This fruit of the rose is used to make rosehip tea, jam or syrup, for example. The fruit is extremely healthy, which is why we at VitaminFit use it as an extract in our vitamin drops. To do this, we boil the rosehips so that they can be processed into a liquid form: an extract.

There are different types of rose hips, simply because there are different types of roses. They grow in Europe, among other places, where they appear after the flower has bloomed. That is why you only see them here in the autumn, and you can recognise them by their orange-red colour.

Rose hips for fatigue and reduced immunity

What exactly are rose hips good for? First and foremost, rose hips contribute to immunity due to the amount of vitamin C in the fruit. In fact, rose hips contain twice as much vitamin C as oranges or lemons! Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins for your immunity. Rose hips also contain vitamin E, which also plays a role in immunity.

But rosehip is also rich in B vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B5, which contribute to your body's natural energy. Do you often feel tired? Then B vitamins may be the solution. But fatigue can also indicate an iron deficiency.

Rosehip is also full of minerals

In addition to vitamins B and C, rosehip is also a natural source of vitamin K and the minerals boron, calcium, chloride, chromium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, magnesium, silicon, iron, zinc and sulphur. So, a whole range of minerals. What do these minerals do in our body?

  • Boron: has a detoxifying effect in the body and helps to eliminate bacteria and fungi.

  • Calcium: is responsible for both the development and maintenance of our teeth and bones. It helps to prevent osteoporosis. Calcium is also important for the proper functioning of the nerves and muscles.

  • Chloride: is a component of sodium chloride. This mineral ensures a good fluid balance and blood pressure.

  • Chromium: plays a role in the functioning of insulin in the body and in carbohydrate metabolism.

  • Phosphorus: like calcium, ensures healthy bones and teeth. It does this by providing strength.
  • Potassium: regulates both fluid balance and blood pressure in the body. Potassium also ensures that muscles can contract, for example.

  • Copper: is involved in the formation of connective tissue and bones and in the immune system. Copper is officially a trace element.

  • Magnesium: is important for the formation of our bones and muscles. It also stimulates the muscles through sufficient magnesium stimuli in the body. It is also a natural anti-stress agent.

  • Silicon: ensures the production of collagen and protects the connective tissue in the skin.
  • Iron: contributes to the production of red blood cells and haemoglobin and helps combat fatigue. In combination with vitamin C, iron is better absorbed by the body.

  • Zinc: supports the immune system and plays a role in maintaining strong and supple muscles. It is also an important mineral for male fertility.

  • Sulphur: is important for the production of keratin, a protein that is necessary for beautiful skin, shiny hair and strong nails. Sulphur is not the same as sulphur dioxide: the latter is a toxic form, whereas sulphur is not.

Minerals are essential for the production of antioxidants and ensure that certain vitamins work more effectively. Thanks to its natural combination of vitamins and minerals, rosehip has many positive health effects. It is a veritable multivitamin bomb and is 100% natural.
