Only water reaches the intestines, other fluids do not. The intestines need moisture and you will notice that your stools become very hard if you do not drink enough. This can cause stomach and intestinal complaints and can also be painful.

I regularly suffer from constipation. What can I take?

Constipation can have various causes. Among other things, eating too little fibre and drinking too little water can lead to constipation. Milk thistle and omega 3 (linseed) can help promote digestion. If symptoms persist, we recommend that you consult your doctor.

Which herbs are good for digestion?

Fennel, turmeric and nettle have a beneficial effect on digestion, as do omega 3 and linseed oil. You can also drink a digestive tea based on one or more of these herbs. Be careful with herbal teas during pregnancy. Theine (and caffeine), which may be present in herbal teas, is not recommended during pregnancy as it can increase the risk of miscarriage.
