Toddlers are often active and curious, and at this stage of their lives they can be exposed to various pathogens. It is important to support your toddler's strong immune system, so that they are better able to resist infections and illnesses.

Fortunately, there are several things you can do to improve your toddler's immune system! Here are some useful tips:

1. A balanced diet with vitamins and minerals

A healthy diet is the basis for a strong immune system. Make sure your toddler has a healthy diet rich in fruit, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and dairy products. These foods contain essential vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc and iron, which can strengthen the immune system!

Also take into account periods when your toddler is not eating as well. In some cases, vitamins in the form of supplements are recommended, for example vitamin D for children up to 3 years of age.

2. Sufficient sleep

Sleep is essential for the recovery and strengthening of the immune system. Toddlers need a lot of sleep, usually between 11 and 14 hours a day, including an afternoon nap. Ensure a restful sleeping environment and a consistent sleep routine to ensure that your child gets enough rest.

3. Regular exercise

Physical activity is not only good for muscle and bone development, but it can also stimulate the immune system. Encourage your toddler to play, run and move around. This will help to strengthen their body and protect them from infections.

4. Hand hygiene

Teaching good hand hygiene is an important part of preventing illness. Teach your toddler to wash their hands regularly, especially before eating and after using the toilet. This will help reduce the spread of germs.

5. Stress management

Stress can weaken the immune system. Although toddlers should not have major sources of stress, it is important to provide a safe and loving environment. Attention, hugs, and a sense of security can contribute to good mental health and resistance.

6. Avoid passive smoking

Smoking can significantly reduce children's immunity and increase their risk of respiratory infections. Make sure your child is not exposed to tobacco smoke.

It is important to remember that a healthy immune system is a combination of good genetics, nutrition, and lifestyle. Although toddlers can sometimes get sick, a stronger immune system will help them recover faster and stay healthy!
